Employment outlook in Mexico two years after the covid-19 pandemic
Synopsis
The pandemic crisis has caused economic problems affecting the labor market. The objective of this document is to analyze the evolution of employment in Mexico two years after the COVID-19 pandemic through the strategies adopted by the government in order to generate some proposals for job recovery. This research is descriptive with a qualitative cut, using secondary data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). The results show that almost 1.1 million jobs were lost in the first 6 months of work. At the beginning of 2022, a significant recovery in employment is noted, but it still does not reach the figures before confinement. The government applied a series of strategies for youth work such as Youth Building the Future, Emerging Support for Non-Salaried Workers Residents of Mexico City, in the face of the SARS-COV2 (COVID-19) emergency, Welfare Tandas, Microcredits to micro, small and medium enterprises and green employment. From the above, the government must apply public policies to encourage employment: the control of prices that do not stop growing and the reduction of taxes so that companies can increase their hiring capacity. Locally generate fertilizers that are adapted to the country's crops. Promote private investment as well as public investment in strategic areas such as the agricultural sector. Apply the responsible consumption strategy throughout the country. Mexico needs to promote national consumption and restrict the presence of foreign companies that offer junk food that harms the health of the population. To achieve the above, a coordinated action is needed between the government (Federal-State-Municipal)- the Market- the Society-University.
