Concern and fear of the infodemic in a population at 3825 meters of altitude
Synopsis
The objective was to determine the association between concern and perception of fear in the face of the COVID-19 infodemic in the population of Puno, 2021. Correlational study, with a non-experimental design, cross-sectional. The population was 84,595 people and the sample size was 383 from 18 to 75 years old, with non-probabilistic snowball-type sampling; as a technique, the survey and two instruments EPCov-19 (COVID-19 Concern Scale) and the "Scale of perception of fear or exaggeration in the face of news of the coronavirus disseminated by the media", whose reliability of Cronbach's Alpha is 0.86 and 0.92 respectively. Statistical processing was performed with SPSS software version 26 and the Chi-square statistic for hypothesis testing. as a result, 0.000 was obtained at a significance level of 0.05, so the null hypothesis was rejected, in addition, 53.0% concern and 62.4% fear or exaggeration perception of coronavirus news were found at a medium level, respectively. It is concluded that there is an association between concern about COVID-19 and the perception of fear in the face of the COVID-19 infodemic.
