The original mitayos in the colonial mines of the Bolivian Peruvian highlands
Synopsis
The purpose of the article was to give an account of the labor situation of the indigenous mitayos of Puno and Bolivia, who worked as workers in the colonial mining centers of the altiplano: Potosí, Carabaya, San Antonio de Esquilache and Laycacota; the investigation, being of a descriptive and historical nature, has been confined to the hermeneutic method for its development, since the reason was to thoroughly analyze the direct sources (unpublished documents from the colonial period) and bibliographical sources with the use of guides and index cards. Then to the development and to have concretized the objectives, the most relevant conclusion was reached, considering that the mita under the Spanish dominion lost all religious and political significance, it was more the exploitation of an individual for another, with very cruel and inhuman treatment without respect for the rights of life, the Spanish did not know how to take care of the physical integrity of the indigenous, even though the Indians were the only factor in the production that led to the enrichment of the Spaniards and as also to the potentialization of the industrial countries of Western Europe, that fact called attention to the indigenous uprisings for a forthcoming liberation that was concretized with the liberating movements and then move to a new political, social and economic system called Republic.
