Prevalence of skin cancer and associated factors in patients attending the pathological anatomy service
Synopsis
The purpose of this article was to study the prevalence of skin cancer and associated factors in patients attending the Pathological Anatomy service of the "Manuel Núñez Butrón" regional hospital in Puno - Peru. The methodology used to determine the prevalence of skin cancer and the associated factors was analytical retrospective and non-probabilistic cross-sectional type, the type of sampling was documentary review and the chi-square as statistical design, for which the results were reviewed. laboratory record books and medical records from 2014 to 2018. The results obtained determined the prevalence of skin cancer per year studied; 2014 (8.94%), 2015 (21.43%), 2016 (19, 64%), 2017 (26.79%) and 2018 (23.21%), noting that in 2017 it presents the highest prevalence corresponding to 15 cases and with the basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma types with (12.5 %) for the same year respectively, the type of cancer identified in the five years was melanoma in one (33.92%) with the exception of the year 2017, the factors associated with the prevalence of cancer being the age group of 63–72 years, with occupation of "agriculturist" followed by other occupations s with 16 cases and male in 30 cases (53.57%). Conclusion: The prevalence of skin cancer was 26.79% in 2017, predominating the melanoma type, associated with the factors age, sex and occupation.
