Socio-family climate and its relationship with social skills in adolescents
Synopsis
The objective was to determine the relationship between the socio-family climate and social skills in adolescents; the type of research was non-experimental with a comparative correlational design; Probabilistic sampling by conglomerates was applied, 360 students from the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade of secondary education from two educational institutions participated: 180 from Santa Rosa (women) and 189 from Glorioso Nacional "San Carlos" (men); the socio-family climate questionnaire and the social skills questionnaire were applied, valid and reliable instruments. Results: The social skills of female adolescents reach high average categories with a tendency to very high, unlike men who are in the low average category; males are less assertive, less communicative, have lower self-esteem and difficulty making decisions compared to female adolescents; By interacting in the educational institution with their same-sex peers, they better develop their skills of: assertiveness and decision-making in women and self-esteem in men. The socio-family climate in female and male adolescents is average. There is a relationship between the socio-family climate and the social skills of self-esteem and decision-making in female adolescents and in males the socio-family climate is related to assertiveness; When verifying the hypothesis, it was found that in students of both sexes, there is a significant relationship between social skills and the socio-family climate with p (0.000) <α (0.05), so the better the family social climate, the higher the level will be. their social skills and vice versa.
